FAQ
Is your Honey Organic?
We do not add to or take anything from our honey, it is extracted from the honey comb within hours of being removed from the hive using centrifugal force (spun out by hand), it is not heated and the only filtration is through a double stainless steel sieve thus ensuring it is completely natural.
To be able to claim it was organic we’d have to be able to control where our bees collect their nectar, unfortunately they have a mind of their own and go where they want.
Do you have Honey all the time?
We’re increasing our hive numbers to try to make sure that we have honey available at all times, the problem has been that when new customers experience what Honey should taste like they come back for more and recommend us to friends putting an ever increasing demand on our limited supply.
We extract every couple of months but if we are out, we’re more than happy to take your name and let you know when we have more available.
Is your Honey Fresh?
Definitely, we aim to extract honey every couple of months.
Does your Honey have a use by date?
No, honey that is extracted when it’s been properly ripened by the bees will be self-preserving, honey that ferments or goes off has either been extracted to early or has had something added.
Honey will naturally crystallise over time but this doesn’t mean it’s gone off.
Why does Honey Crystallise?
This is a natural process that will happen to all natural untreated honey over time, there is nothing wrong with the honey and it can be made liquid again by gently heating. If you do heat it please ensure you don’t get it to hot as it will destroy the taste of the Honey.
Never heat it in a microwave.
What type of Honey do you have?
Our bees collect their nectar from a variety of sources depending on what’s flowering in our area at that time of the year therefore we don’t claim that it is a particular type, when you try it you’ll appreciate that it tastes fantastic.
Do you remove Bee Swarms?
If you have a smarm let us know and well see if we can help out, swarms in building are very difficult to remove as are those that are high up so no guarantees.
Generally a swarm will move on the next day if left alone, they are relatively placid when swarming so the best thing is to leave them be.
